pg_dump ile sürüm yükseltmek

PostgreSQL'de sürüm yükseltmeden önce genelde pg_dump(all) ile yedek alınır, eski sürüm kaldırılr, yeni sürüm kurulur ve sonra yedek geri yüklenir -- daha doğrusu  öyle yapılması gerektiği düşünülür.


Oysa bu bir hatadır.


Yapılması gereken her zaman üst sürümün pg_dump'ı ile yedeği almaktır. Yeni sürümün pg_dump'ı hem geriye uyumludur; hem de yeni sürümün tablo vs yapılarına uygun yedek alır..



Tabii en güzeli Slony-I ile sürüm değiştirmek; orası ayrı :-)
