Red Hat, EnterpriseDB'ye yatırım yaptı.

What Red Hat's investment in EnterpriseDB means konulu yazı da arkasından geldi. EDB'nin iş modelinin Red Hat'e yakın olması ilginç aslında. İkisi de subscription temelli bir iş modeli uyguluyorlar. Red Hat'in PostgreSQL'e verdiği destek zaten ortada. En büyük PostgreSQL geliştiricisi Red Hat' de çalışıyor. Halihazırda da EDB, PostgreSQL çekirdek ekibinden 2 kişiyi çalıştırıyor. Dolayısıyla bu işbirliği teknik ve pazarlama anlamında çok iyi olacağa benziyor.


EDB'nin PostgreSQL Plus Advanced Server ürünü zaten Oracle pazarını hedefliyor. PostgreSQL Plus ise bir "PostgreSQL dağıtımı" olarak kullanılıyor ve ücretsiz -- hatta içinde MySQL migrator da var. Dolayısıyla geniş bir pazara saldırma şansları var.
